Fraser Clark

I'm Fraser Clark, a freelance web developer with over 15 years of professional experience. I'm originally from Edinburgh, Scotland and now based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What I do

I build websites and web applications for businesses that care about quality. Most of my work is custom WordPress development, Laravel applications, and Statamic CMS projects.

I focus on two things that often get overlooked: the experience your team has when editing the site, and the experience your visitors have when using it. A good website works well for both.

My background

After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University in 2009, I spent over 6 years as a software developer at the digital agency The Weather Digital, working across a range of projects from small business sites to enterprise platforms.

In 2015 I left to solo travel the world. I visited over 20 countries and spent 8 weeks in Argentina doing voluntary work with children.

Since late 2015, I've been freelancing full-time. I've worked with organisations of all sizes across the UK and Europe — from startups and charities to governments and multi-nationals.

How I work

I don't speak in jargon. I care about understanding what you're trying to achieve before I write a line of code. I build things properly, I communicate clearly, and I'm reliable.

How I use AI

AI is part of my day-to-day toolkit. Whether it's a WordPress theme, a Laravel app or a Statamic build, I use it to speed up routine work like scaffolding, refactoring and writing tests, and to run AI-assisted security and code reviews that check for vulnerabilities and bugs before anything goes live. The time saved means more of your budget goes on the parts that need real thought.

Anyone can ask an AI tool to build something, and it will produce something. Getting results you can actually rely on is different. I've spent a lot of time researching and working with a range of coding agents, harnesses and AI models, and I know what each one is good at, where it falls down, and how to set them up to produce professional-quality code.

Building software is a professional skill, and AI doesn't change that. What AI doesn't have is 15 years of seeing what happens after launch. It doesn't know your business, how your team uses the site, or that a quick shortcut today could cause problems next year. Everything that goes live on your site has been checked and signed off by me — and when something breaks, you're talking to someone who knows your project, not a chatbot.
